Employability (National 2)

Developing the Young Workforce: an Inclusive Approach

SQA has produced this suite of Employability units at National 2 level which offers learners the opportunity to develop both generic and vocationally specific job skills.

This resource is designed to provide some ideas and learning materials to support your delivery of these units. It is not a full teaching pack but a toolkit of resources supporting a range of themes across these units.

To ensure that learning activities are as diverse and flexible as possible they have been developed as both lecturer led activities with printable resources which can be used with whole class or small group and interactive learner activities which can be accessed by individual learners or displayed on an interactive whiteboard.

They have been developed by CDN in collaboration with Borders College and West College Scotland . It is aimed at both staff and students.

These resources for lecturers relate to the twelve vocational areas covered under the SQA National 2 Employment Skills units.

They cover three types of learning activity.

Learners will investigate an area of work, practise the skills required and reflect on their progress.

Activities support the development of both job specific knowledge and also the understanding of generic employment skills such appropriate attitudes and behaviours and health and safety in the workplace.

These suggested approaches and accompanying resources will support the learner to go through the process of identifying a job, preparing a job application and undertaking a job interview.
